Middlesbrough Congress (Intermediate) Riverside Stadium (3), 17.07.2010
[Llewellyn,Alan]

This game was an important game in a weekend chess tourney held in middlesbrough. We were both on 2/2 the only people still on full points in the third round of five. My opponent sat at the table and could just about see over the table from his seat he was so young. He came from a strong chess playing family from singapore.

[Playing for the fork on e7 doesnt work. for example:- 24.Bxe5 fxe5 25.Rxd5 Bxf5!! (25...Rxd5? 26.Ne7+ Kg7 27.Nxd5=/+ ) ]

24...Kg7 25.Nf5+ Bxf5 26.Rxf5 d4 27.b4 Kg6 28.g4 Nc4 29.Bc1 d3 30.Bd2
[30.bxc5?! d2 31.c6 Rd6 32.Bxd2 Nxd2 33.Kg2 Rc8 34.Rc5-+ ]

30...Nxd2 31.Rxd2 c4 32.Rf3?!
[32.Rc5 ]

32...Rfd8 33.Rdf2 d2 34.Rxf6+ Kg7
this loss meant i had to win both my remaining games to get maybe 2nd place, and i managed to win 1 but not the final one. So I finished 5th in the intermediate section (under 145 grade) of the congress. The junior went on to win the intermediate section by a full point. All his opponents were battle hardened strong club players not juniors so he did well. 0-1
